Sustainability & Our Process
At Better Day, sustainability is not just a buzzword — it’s the core of everything we do.
When we launched in 2021, our goal was clear: to raise awareness about the fashion industry’s impact on people and the planet, while offering an ethical alternative through timeless, thoughtfully made clothing.
For nearly 4 years we’ve shared this vision by curating vintage collections, speaking at public events, and educating our community about the realities of fashion production.
The story behind the Linen collection
Our Linen Collection was born from a personal journey.
As I ran the vintage and secondhand resale business, I became increasingly intrigued by sustainable practices — not just reselling clothes, but understanding the root of the problem and exploring real solutions.
On a trip to Bangladesh to visit family, I set out to uncover the hidden links in the fashion supply chain. I travelled within Bangladesh - from handloom factories to fabric markets. What I found was a big market in an older area of Dhaka, Bangladesh that had thousands of vendors selling rolls of perfectly good, unused fabric known as deadstock, left behind as garments factory textile waste. This discovery changed everything.
Enter: Deadstock. Where Excess Finds Purpose
Often times deadstock is referred to as scrap fabric.
In the textiles manufacturer world, deadstock refers to surplus fabric that textile mills or clothing manufacturers overproduce. Often, it ends up discarded or sold through third parties at low margins — contributing to over 100 million tonnes of annual textile waste and costing the industry up to $120 billion each year.
Disposing of deadstock contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprints and is a major source of fabric waste. In Bangladesh alone, over 500,000 tonnes of leftovers are generated annually, potentially producing over 1 billion new garments through reuse and recycling, indicating profitable opportunities for recycling.
Reuse, reduce, recycle.
After interviewing multiple sources in the garments supply chain, I came to realize that no matter how many certifications a product has, full transparency in raw materials is nearly impossible. Using deadstock lets us create beautiful, lasting garments from fabric that already exists — minimizing environmental harm while offering more affordable options for conscious shoppers.
In 2024, we incorporated Better Day Trade International Ltd. to launch original collections made from responsibly sourced materials — with deadstock linen at the forefront.

Our Process
We design everything in-house in Canada, where I blend inspiration from vintage fashion, customer feedback, and my own lifestyle as a sustainable shopper with a 9–5 job.
The goal is to make timeless and elevated wardrobe essentials — practical enough to wear every day, yet chic enough to feel special.
Each design is made in very limited quantities. Because deadstock fabrics are finite, many of our garments are truly one-of-a-kind.
Better is designed with sustainability in mind, while operating a beautifully transparent supply chain where others benefit from craft, community and creativity.
Our team includes:
- A trusted buying house of three people to source high-quality deadstock fabric
- A master tailor who refines our technical designs
- B-corp, OEKO-TEX and Accord certified factory in Bangladesh run by a childhood friend, where the garments are brought to life.
Producing small batches increases our per-item costs, but we’re committed to paying our workers and our suppliers a fair wage, as well as to creating meaningful work that gives our collaborators creative agency. In a country where 4 million workers make clothes for brands they’ll never meet, we’re proud to offer something different: connection, care, and respect.

A Family Business — and a Community One
In 2024, Better Day became a family business with the addition of my father and mother as shareholders. But our true extended family is the community we serve — our customers, our collaborators, and everyone working toward a better future for fashion.
Through our business operations, we’re proud to support initiatives that align with our values—from Remake to Parker Street Food Bank, Alice House, and local disaster relief. If you would like us to support a particular occasion or cause, please let us know at info@betterdayvintage.ca
